Beth Bombara and band recently released a new video and album that was recorded here at Jettison Studios. A special thanks to Blip Blap Video. Enjoy!
Recently Jettison Studios was able to preview a brand new preamp by Dizengoff Audio. It's a new endeavor by Matt Newport, former chief engineer at Black Lion Audio. Matt sold B.L.A. in 2013, took a break, and is now back with some great new products including the D4 preamp. With the help of Grant Essig, Rich Labonte, and Christian Kirk we put together a track and video showcasing the D4. Take a listen!
I've been busy here at Jettison Studios, recording The Reverbs and most recently Beth Bombara. It's always a great experience recording live. The setup is the toughest part but once we get sounds and everyone gets settled in with their headphone mixes, we can just focus on capturing a performance. I think bands are most comfortable treating the recording process like a gig and the process is a lot faster than tracking everything separately. Maybe it helps to relieve the red light syndrome. Bottom line, it feels good at the end of the day to get so much accomplished in a such a short period of time. I can't wait for everyone to hear these recordings!
Totally excited about this one. In June I will travel to Avignon, France to spend a week with Jacquire King at Studio LaFabrique for Mix with the Masters. Jacquire has worked on Norah Jones, Kings of Leon, Mute Math, and Buddy Guy, among others. I'll be bringing him a mix that I've been working on and he'll go through it with me. It's a great opportunity to gain some experience from an engineer of that caliber.
"As Seen On TV" from Dropkick the Robot's EP, What A Chance, was just selected by The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) as a semi-finalist. They had almost 19,000 entries from over 100 countries, and Semi-Finalists make up the top 8% of all entries. They will announce the finalists in a couple weeks and the winners at the end of April. Fingers crossed.
Kara and I have been awarded the Electronic Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for, "Missed Out." It's a new Dropkick the Robot song that was written, recorded, mixed and mastered here at Jettison Studios!
